About me

Hi! I'm Tyler Gately.

I’m an Army veteran of the Iraq War and an artist who discovered painting after a failed attempt to buy a Chinook painting inspired me to create my own. What began as a moment of frustration quickly became a lasting creative pursuit.

My work captures the spirit of aircraft through movement and energy, using loose brushwork and dynamic composition to bring each subject to life. While the engineering and power of these machines initially drew me in, it’s the human stories behind them that continue to drive my work.

I aim to create pieces that evoke nostalgia and personal connection, whether for veterans reflecting on their service, aviation enthusiasts drawn to flight, or kids dreaming of becoming pilots. At its core, my art is about storytelling: preserving moments, honoring experiences, and sparking imagination.
